Randox Testing Services utilises practical and efficient methods of alcohol testing and ensures patient comfort by use of non-invasive methods of sample collection. With a variety of methods including a breath test, urine test and hair strand test, we are able to conduct testing for short-term and long-term detection of alcohol consumption to ensure your testing needs are met.

Breath Test

A breath test offers a quick and convenient method to test for alcohol consumption. Measuring a person’s blood alcohol content, a breath test determines whether an individual has recently consumed alcohol and if they are over the legal limit or a pre-determined limit. An alcohol breath test can be performed on-site with immediate results using a breathalyser product.

At Randox Testing Services we test for blood alcohol content using breathalysers which are approved by the Home Office, legally defensible and used by a number of police forces across the UK.

Alcohol Testing

Urine Test

A urine test offers a practical method of alcohol testing, and is used to detect recent alcohol consumption with a detection window of less than 12 hours. To ensure testing which is accurate and reliable, our alcohol urine test consists of using 2 urine samples taken approximately 1 hour apart.

Hair Strand Test

A hair strand test can be used to detect long-term alcohol abuse with a detection window of 90+ days. Offering the longest detection window of all sample types, an alcohol hair test is utilised to detect alcohol consumption over a 3 month period. It is often used by employers or recruiters conducting pre-employment screening to assess the eligibility of applicants for a job role, family law solicitors requiring alcohol testing for family court cases and police officers involved in forensic toxicology cases.

At Randox Testing Services we combine the testing of ethyl glucuronide (EtG) and fatty acid ethyl esters (FAEE) as an aid in assessing chronic or excessive alcohol consumption. Both are metabolites of alcohol present in hair after the breakdown of alcohol in the body.
