Please choose your sector below for a detailed overview of our drug and alcohol screening procedure:

  • Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing

    1

    Consultation with Randox Testing Services

Our drug and alcohol screening procedure begins with a free consultation with one of our experienced sales executives. During the consultation we will discuss your testing requirements and put together a package tailored to your needs.

    2

Create a workplace drug and alcohol testing policy

As an employer wishing to implement drug and alcohol testing in the workplace you are required to have a substance abuse policy. Our professional consultancy service is available to help you create or modify a new or existing workplace drug and alcohol testing policy.

Providing you with the correct tools and information, we ensure you have an effective policy in place to allow you the right, as an employer, to carry out employee testing. We also ensure the rights of the employee are protected by ensuring a policy which is clear and concise. During this process we will discuss the types of workplace testing you wish to carry out to ensure your policy suits your business needs.

    3

Implement workplace drug and alcohol testing

After ensuring a legally viable substance abuse policy is in place, we provide comprehensive training and education to help you to communicate the new policy to your employees and management staff. We also provide extra training services to educate your management team on the significance of drug and alcohol misuse in the workplace, and help them to identify employee substance abuse.

    4

    Sample collection from employees

After gaining informed consent from employees, our network of trained and experienced sample collection officers collects samples using your method of choice at a time and place that suits you.

Alternatively we offer training and education to allow your own staff to collect samples from employees. To provide you with the space to collect and store your own samples on-site, we can provide a fully functional mobile testing unit.

Throughout sample collection, sample integrity is maintained following strict chain of custody criteria. Unique identification numbers are assigned to employees to ensure employee names or company information is not known by laboratory staff performing sample analysis. In addition barcodes are placed on sample bottles and relevant paperwork to ensure traceability of results to the correct donor.

    5

    Sample analysis

Employee samples are transitioned to our state-of-the-art laboratory. They are assessed to ensure sample integrity has been maintained, and screened using our innovative Biochip Array Technology to ensure reliable and highly accurate results.

Upon analysis of employee samples, required actions differ depending on the result:

    Negative results

If a result is negative the employee is cleared of having drugs or alcohol in their system

    Presumptive positive results

If a sample is reported as presumptive positive or non-negative, it indicates presence of a particular substance. In this case further analysis is required.

    Confirmatory testing

Confirmatory testing is carried out on presumptive positive samples to confirm drug class and concentration.

    Positive results

If a sample receives a positive result after confirmatory testing, a report will be written and will state which drugs were found and at what concentration.

To ensure the rights of the employee and the employer, we offer a medical review service to examine positive results, independently and confidentially, by an expert Medical Review Officer; this determines if there is a legitimate medical reason for positive results.

Following a positive result and analysis of whether the employee is in breach of cut-off limits, your drug and alcohol testing policy should outline the actions and disciplinary procedures to be followed.
